Ingredients for Maple Balsamic-Glazed Pork Chops

4 thick-cut boneless pork chops (about 1-2 1/2 lbs)

½ cup pure maple syrup

3 tablespoons balsamic vinegar

2 tablespoons melted clarified butter or ghee

3 medium garlic cloves, minced

½ teaspoon dried oregano

½ teaspoon dried basil

½ teaspoon dried thyme

½ teaspoon sea salt

¼ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions for Maple Balsamic-Glazed Pork Chops

Preheat oven to 400° F. To make the glaze, in a small saucepan, whisk together balsamic vinegar, maple syrup, clarified butter, garlic, oregano, basil, thyme, salt, and pepper. Bring syrup mixture to a boil over medium heat, reduce heat, and simmer until thickened slightly. This takes about 5-7 minutes.

Sear the pork chops on both sides over medium heat in an oven-safe skillet (cast iron is great for this) until the meat pulls away easily from the pan. This should take just a few minutes per side.

Balsamic Maple Glazed Pork Chop in a Cast Iron Skillet.I use a pastry brush to spread the glaze on all sides of the pork chops, pouring the excess glaze over the pork and into the bottom of the skillet. Transfer the skillet to the oven and roast at 400° F for 6-8 minutes (time will vary, depending on the thickness of the pork chops) or until a meat thermometer inserted into the center reads 145° F. Brush one more time with maple balsamic glaze from the bottom of the skillet before serving. The glaze is also great on roasted carrots or sweet potatoes. Enjoy!
