Mixed Berry Smoothie

Posted on03.29.16 by Nelle

Mixed Berry SmoothieThe beginning of summer is the beginning of an abundance of fresh berries of all kinds. Buy them already frozen or buy them fresh and freeze them yourself.  I collect as many berries from our property, farmers markets, local growers, and grocery stores as I can to make my Mixed Berry Smoothie recipe. Cherries, raspberries, blackberries, blueberries, even mulberries, and more can be included. I freeze them first and add them to my smoothies.

Ingredients for Mixed Berry Smoothie

1 cup mixed frozen berries

¼-½ cup almond milk

½ cup full fat Organic Unsweetened Coconut Milk or Organic Coconut Cream (No guar gum or other extra ingredients.)

1 pinch of sea salt

½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

¾ cup crushed ice

Instructions for Mixed Berry Smoothie

Combine all ingredients, except for the ice and ¼ cup almond milk, in a blender, (I use a Ninja-Nutra Ninja Cup.) and blend until well-combined, add extra almond milk if needed for thinning. Turn off blender to scrape the sides as needed. Add ice and blend until smooth.

Pour into your favorite glass and enjoy! Smoothies are always better through a straw, they seem tastier that way.

This looks so good! This would be perfect for my son who has a dairy allergy! He loves ice cream type things, but we struggle to find suitable replacements for the milk. Can't wait to try this!
